We’ve caught everything from big browns to arctic grayling with the H2 Flashback, an excellent attractor pattern that consistently fools fish year-round when caddis, mayflies, or stoneflies are present in the water. This makes it a useful fly when searching for fish in new water or to pair with another fly that may more closely match the hatch. 

A grizzly hen saddle, soft hackle feather on the collar gives the fly realistic movement sub-surface and an orange hotspot acts as an attention grabber and can trigger trout feeding on eggs during spawning season. The tungsten bead gets down quickly and the jig hook results in fewer hangups and cleaner hookups. 

Our favorite ways to fish it: 

• On a dry-dropper when you’re not in the mood to think too much about which nymph to tie on.

• Anywhere on a nymph rig, depending on the size H2 you’re using and the other flies you’re fishing.
