We won't bore you with the technicalities regarding chironomids—all you need to know is that they're large midges found in most alpine lakes and the fish that live there depend on them. They're a staple food source for cutthroat, brookies, graying, and rainbows. Even big lake run browns will hammer a chironomid larva if one is presented to them. If you ever see us at a lake there’s a 100% chance that a chironomid is somewhere on our rig. They always work—no BS.
