The Purple Haze is a variant of the Parachute Adams, a classic dry fly that works effectively as a searching pattern or as an imitation during various mayfly hatches. The addition of purple to the body gives this version of the Adams an attractor quality that will often trigger eats even when no specific hatch is happening.

The parachute wing post makes this fly easy to see even in smaller sizes, while the horizontally oriented hackle makes the fly sit low in the surface film like a newly emerged adult insect.

We typically fish the Purple Haze solo, or as a second dry, trailing 12-18" behind a larger dry.
