Articulated Sparkle Minnow
The Articulated Sparkle Minnow is a baitfish pattern that combines a flashy body, marabou, and rubber legs with an articulated construction for added movement. The cone head gives the fly a diving action between strips, making it a useful option for working deeper runs and bank-side structure.
Let it sink before starting your retrieve, then use short strips and pauses to work it through likely holding water. Mix in an occasional lift of the rod tip to change its movement, or slow down and let the current work the marabou and rubber legs.
Color Selection
Yellow: A useful change of pace when natural colors aren’t getting a response. Try it when you want a brighter fly that stands out.
Olive: A good starting point when you’re imitating darker baitfish or fishing clear water, where fish have more time to inspect the fly.
Pearl: A useful option when you’re after the bright, reflective look of minnows and other silver-sided baitfish.
Sculpin: A good choice when you’re targeting fish feeding near the bottom. Work it around rocks and through deeper runs with short strips and pauses to suggest a sculpin moving between cover.
